Description
Design harry bertoia for knoll, model bird armchair with ottoman, 1980s. Harry bertoia for knoll. Bird armchair and ottoman in black painted steel wires forms grids, the upholstery is entirely new design made by a very good upholsterer. Armchair that forms a seat hole and stands on sled legs with a high backrest. Ottoman with rectangular seat and also standing on sled legs. First edition from 1956 by knoll. Armchair and ottoman made by harry bertoia who created them as light sculptures crossed in the sky. To achieve this result of extreme lightness, he studied space, shapes and steel properties. Made by hand in the beginning, with each wire bent by hand before being welded. First collection with very few copies before bertoia and bob savage of design & development created an industrial and serial production. Seat height: 35 cm.
