Old plate in Villeroy & Boch faience Mettlach 1562 Old Strasbourg / Alt Strassburg

Large oval serving dish by Villeroy & Boch Mettlach, model 1562 "Vieux Strasbourg / Alt Strassburg". Stamped (green stamp) "Villeroy & Boch / Mettlach / Made in Saar / 1562" and (in relief) "6c4". Villeroy & Boch reissued this model in the 1980s (brown stamp); this is a piece from the original series produced in the 1950s. Floral decoration (rose in the centre) on an ecru background, gently scalloped edge, enhanced with a forest green line. Fine earthenware semi-porcelain. Beautiful quality. In very (very) good condition: no accidents, no scratches or other signs of use, sharp edges and base, no stains or discolouration. A magnificent piece in exceptional condition. Dimensions: length 40 cm, width 26.5 cm.
