Wooden box

This charming wooden box, with a cute latch, has undoubtedly already had several lives. Originally, it must have had a small metal plate nailed on the top, we can still see the two nail holes and inside it must have had a separation, which is now absent. Perhaps a games box or containing a technical object... It must date from the 50s or earlier. It is in good structural condition, still solid, the hinges are in good condition, but it does not hide the patina of decades: various marks, gaps on the wood, spindle holes, not active, but which I have still treated by injection of white vinegar, it is my natural method to replace chemical insecticides. I cleaned it and gave it a very light coat of antique wax. This box measures 22.5 cm by 14.5 cm with a height of 7.2 cm.
