Magnificent oval serving dish (or vegetable dish / presentation basket) from the Art Deco period, combining silver-plated metalwork and glass craftsmanship. A very beautiful table piece, elegant and authentic. Characteristics and Hallmarks: • Silversmith: Durousseau & Raynaud (Lyon). The master hallmark "D&R" with the characteristic bird (phoenix) of the brand is present, as well as the number "14" (indicating the weight of silver used for the plating). • Style: Pure Art Deco (1930s) with very graphic stepped geometric handles and a mount with clean lines. • Composition: ◦ An oval silver-plated mount/container with two handles. ◦ A removable lining in thick moulded/cut glass, adorned with a superb engraved radiant star at the bottom. Condition of the object: • Silver-plated metal: Very good overall condition. The plating is shiny, not worn except very slightly on the corners of the handles. There are slight micro-scratches from normal use for a piece of this age, but no major dents or deformations. • Glass interior: The glass dish is clean and well transparent. Note: A small discreet chip (about 1 mm) is present on the serrated upper edge of the glass (clearly indicated by the red arrow). Dimensions: • Length: 35 cm. • Width: 21 cm. • Height: 8 cm. • Total weight: 1.436 kg. Ideal for a lovely festive table, to serve salads, fruits, or hot/cold dishes, or to complete a collection of Lyonnaise silverware.
