Chair in carved wood and rope

"pidha" chairs are low wooden chairs with an often carved backrest. Traditionally, these chairs were offered to brides for their trousseau, a practice forgotten today. The seat could be braided with cotton strips or rope as here. The chairs were then used daily in the house. This one is folding. The paintings are original (gold, silver and copper). On its carved back are represented two horse heads and floral motifs.
