Trumeau mirror from the Restoration period - Decor fixed under glass

A patinated gilded wooden mirror framed by two twisted columns with floral highlights. The upper part is adorned with a decoration known as "fixed under glass, " which involved painting on the reverse side of the glass. This technique preserved the decoration and, above all, gave it depth and relief. The scene, with romantic undertones, tells the story of two lovers up to their marriage. The mirror is made of mercury glass, with a slightly faded backing. The back is in perfect condition, equipped with a hook for wall mounting.
