Marble sculpture of Marie the virgin

A beautiful reconstructed marble bust of the virgin mary and the child jesus, dating from approximately the mid-twentieth century. the original sculpture was made by french artist marie caullet nantard around the 1920s. nantard was born in 1876 and is well known for her religious subjects. this piece is a tender study of mother and child in which faces and hands are particularly beautiful. the back bears nantard's printed signature.
