A striking pair of Artifort Model 952 “Transformation” lounge chairs, designed by Hans de Wit in the Netherlands in the 1980s. These distinctive armchairs are characterised by their minimalist, architectural design and beautifully executed cubist-inspired metal frames in a warm anthracite grey finish. The graphic double-bar armrests create a strong geometric silhouette, while the generously proportioned upholstered seat and backrest provide a surprisingly comfortable and inviting place to sit. This pair is particularly appealing for its sophisticated combination of materials and colours. The backrests are upholstered in warm cream-coloured leather, beautifully contrasted by the original-looking textured upholstery of the seats in a subtle mélange of soft green, beige and natural tones. The combination gives the otherwise strict, architectural design a softer and more elegant character. The chairs are in very good vintage condition overall. The upholstery is exceptionally well preserved, with no significant wear to the fabric or frame. The cream-coloured leather backrests show some signs of age and use. One of the two chairs has visible marks/staining on the leather, as shown in the detailed photographs. These marks do not affect the structural condition or functionality of the chair, but are mentioned for full transparency. The leather would benefit from professional cleaning and/or refinishing to restore a more uniform appearance.
