Set of 4 dessert plates by Digoin Sarreguemines 19th

The 19th century saw the emergence of a number of so-called talking earthenware plates. These feature a historic and legendary decoration on the theme of young soldiers. Antique plate with green marli and black illustration. The 4 plates on sale are nos. 2, 3, 5 and 6. They are still very well preserved for their age, most of them have a stained background, inevitable on antique earthenware (probably dating from the end of the 19th century). Plate no. 3 has a slight thread (see red arrow on photo) to collect or to use as dessert dishes, each guest having a drawing and a legend to discover as the plate empties width 20 cm.
