Description
A large vase or jar in polychrome porcelain with enamel decoration in reserve depicting a woman with a child, with fan, and flowers at the back. Originality of the brick red color in the background. Lid with dragon on ball (accident) and plugs in dog of fô also. Rests on three legs with animal decoration (restoration accident on one foot) Unique ideogram signature under the base. Period: circa 1900. Dimensions: height 40 cm, width 12 cm, weight 1.6 kg. Good condition. Born in the sixteenth century in the azuchi-momoyama period, satsuma or satzuma refers to polychrome porcelain decorated with gilded designs. After being presented at the 1867 universal exhibition in paris, this porcelain proved to be a popular export good to europe.
