One of the most optically spectacular ceiling lights ever produced by Peill & Putzler, West Germany, dating to the 1960s–70s, in very good condition with no damage. The shade is a deep dome of thick pressed glass, its entire exterior surface covered in concentric rings of oval lenses — hundreds of individually formed glass elements arranged in a tightening spiral from the scalloped outer edge to the brass central fitting. Each lens is ground with a slightly different curvature, so that when the lamp is lit, every single one refracts the light at a different angle. The result is not simply illumination — it is a light show. Switched on with three bulbs inside, the dome becomes a glowing optical instrument. Across the ceiling and surrounding walls, a dense, shifting pattern of oval light reflections spreads outward — overlapping, rotating, hypnotic. The effect changes as you move through the room, the reflections appearing to ripple and reorganise themselves. There is nothing passive about this lamp. Peill & Putzler was one of West Germany's finest optical and decorative glass manufacturers, and pieces of this quality and complexity represent the very top of their output. Diameter: 40 cm. Height: 18 cm. Bulb sockets: 3 × E27.
