Rare sycamore commode by René Prou. Typical of René Prou's rounded work, this commode dates from the 1940s. It has a rectangular shape, softened by a slightly curved form and a lovely curved base. It is equipped with 3 drawers. The top drawer has its original key and locks. The beautiful round handles in gilded brass are original. With very careful and refined craftsmanship, it is numbered on the back. It is perfectly stable, robust, very sound, and in remarkable condition. Made of solid wood, it is quite heavy. The drawers slide perfectly without needing to be forced. It is in its original state, with no alterations or repairs. The handles are slightly tarnished, which adds charm and authenticity to this exceptional piece of furniture. The sycamore has a very bright light yellow colour. A central figure of the Art Deco movement, René Prou, born in 1887 in Nantes and died in Paris in 1947, was a French interior designer. His numerous creations, designed specifically for the most beautiful mobile and immobile places, will make him one of the leading artists of the Art Deco movement and the Art of Travel.
