The Apollo armchair, designed by Patrick Norguet for Artifort in 2002, represents one of the most significant moments in the transition of the Dutch brand from historical modernism to contemporary design. With this model, Norguet introduces a formal language that reinterprets Artifort’s organic tradition in a more essential, controlled, and architectural key. The design stands out for its fluid and continuous silhouette, conceived as a single graphic gesture: a line in space that defines a seat that is both sculptural and ergonomic. The structure develops through two upholstered volumes that open at the front, creating a dynamic and welcoming form, designed to offer comfort and a strong visual presence. Apollo was created for contemporary environments, lobbies, executive offices, hospitality spaces, and high-end residences, and is characterized by its ability to engage with space in a 360-degree manner thanks to the central swivel base, an element that contributes both to functionality and to the aesthetic balance of the piece. The structure is made with a rigid internal shell covered in polyurethane foam, fully upholstered and finished in fabric. The base is in metal with a circular plate, a distinctive element of Artifort production. Please note that this item is in good vintage condition. Minor signs of age may be present, which do not affect its functionality. We kindly invite you to take these characteristics into consideration before purchasing. Although it is a relatively recent project, the model has now acquired the status of contemporary design that has become vintage, representative of the formal research of the early 2000s and increasingly appreciated in the collectors’ market. Patrick Norguet is a French designer known for his refined and precise approach, where technical rigor meets a strong sensitivity to form and comfort. Emerging in the early 2000s, he gained recognition for creating objects that balance innovation with clarity of design, focusing on proportion, usability, and the relationship between object and space. Artifort, founded in 1890, is internationally recognized for combining craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless design. The brand became a key figure in modern design through collaborations with designers such as Kho Liang Ie and Pierre Paulin, and continues to evolve by working with contemporary designers while maintaining a strong focus on comfort, color, and form.
