coffee pot / jug in Sarreguemines earthenware – Obernai model

Superb and large coffee pot (or jug) in fine earthenware from the famous Sarreguemines factory in France, derived from the iconic "Obernai" model created based on the original drawings of the Alsatian artist Henri Loux. This piece is characterised by its generously curved shapes and its beautiful cream-white earthenware. It features two magnificent distinct decorations painted under glaze representing scenes of traditional and bucolic life in Alsace: Side A: A peasant proudly walking amidst his fields of wheat, in front of a typical village steeple. Side B: A couple of villagers in traditional costumes dancing a popular waltz in front of a half-timbered building. The impeccably matching lid, the spout, and the elegant curved handle are highlighted with charming decorations of floral garlands and old roses. Under the base is the official stamp guaranteeing the origin of manufacture and specifying that the decoration is unalterable and dishwasher safe.
