Octagonal painted metal box

Large painted metal box, on a black background. Japanese-style flowery landscape decorated with large birds appearing to be cranes on the water. Extremely rare object. Perhaps used as a storage box for sewing or toiletries. The interior is decorated with a mirror. The whole thing is in good condition, some wear from time, the bottom of the box is discolored.
