Pair of cone vases in crystal, onyx and bronze.

Charming pair of crystal trumpet vases, tulipiers, centrepieces, resting on elegant mounts in gilded bronze decorated with acanthus leaves in the Napoléon III style. Their slender silhouette, accentuated by vertical ribs, opens into a scalloped corolla reminiscent of a blossoming flower. The circular bases in black onyx are enhanced by three small decorative lion paw feet in gilded bronze, adding contrast and refinement to the whole. These vases make magnificent ornamental objects for a fireplace, a console, or the centre of a table. The onyx marble bases show some chipping around the edges and a more significant chip that can be concealed by placing it against a wall. The glass is in good condition (neither chipped nor cracked). The vases appear to have been sealed at their base and are watertight. The patina on the gilded bronze parts is varied. There is a subtle difference between the vases; a small collar under the base of the crystal receptacle is only present on one vase. Height 30.5 cm. Diameter of the base 10.5 cm.
