Large mirror (2 metres) Art Nouveau in carved mahogany with high-relief decoration.

Important Art Nouveau wall mirror of architectural format, reaching 2 metres in height, made of richly carved mahogany with a naturalistic decoration featuring irises, the emblematic flower of the Art Nouveau aesthetic. The composition, sinuous plant lines, and powerful high-relief work link this piece to the taste of the Belle Époque and the spirit of the École de Nancy, following the creations of Gallé and Majorelle. The dappled backgrounds known as "amatis", inspired by bronze chiselling techniques, highlight the finesse of execution and enhance the play of shadow and depth. A strong, authentic, and rare decorative piece both in its format and the quality of its sculpture. Naturalistic ornamentation typical of the Art Nouveau repertoire. Abundant vegetal decoration composed of iris flowers, buds, slender foliage, and sinuous stems running around the entire perimeter. Original antique glass, with a border enhanced by a wide bevel that follows the inner profile of the frame. Back structured by a heavy traditional parquet of softwood planks. Very good overall condition. A few very slight minor accidents in the lower right part, as well as a missing piece on a sculpted stem located on the right side. These imperfections remain very discreet and visually integrate into the whole, with the wood presenting a uniform hue both on the surface and in its thickness. They are therefore hardly perceptible to the naked eye (please refer to the last two photographs). The glass is intact, showing only minimal signs of use. Additional photographs of these micro-scratches can be provided upon request. Measurements: • Total height: 202 cm. • Total width: 120 cm. • Glass dimensions: 176 X 98 cm.
