Mid-Century Modern Swedish "Late Afternoon Coast" Vintage Landscape Oil Painting, Framed

Late afternoon coast. Size: 62 X 80 cm (including frame) Oil on canvas. A very pleasant and scenic modernist coastal landscape painting, executed in oil onto canvas by the established swedish artist richard björklund (1897–1974) whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the national museum in stockholm, moderna museet in stockholm, malmo museum, ystads art museum, and others. This picturesque composition presents a beautiful sea view, and a row of houses surrounded by lush trees that line a coast. The artist has worked under a largely modernist ethos, using blocks of colour in contrasting tones to create depth within the picture. Painterly brushstrokes and a very uplifting colour palette comprising shades of green, blue and purple have been used, wonderfully capturing the lively spirit of this coastal neighbourhood. This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary deep profile gilt frame. The frame has some very minor scuffing, which is commensurate with age and the vintage appearance. The painting is in excellent vintage condition.
