Rare boomerang coffee table, with 2 folding tabletop ends, Scandinavian style, designed by Edvard Valentinsen, for Samcom, 1960s. Made in Denmark and crafted from teak, this beautiful piece was created from a single piece that was cut at a specific angle and then joined together so that the join is perfectly symmetrical, in terms of the grain & patterns of the wood. What is remarkably and distinctly unique about this boomerang table & that differs from others, are the following features: - it really does look like a real boomerang, no matter what angle you look at it from. - there are 2 drop leaves with 2 sliding mechanisms, so it can increase or decrease in size, so it can be used fully open, half-open or closed, depending on the needs or space, as a dining table with a folding extension (see pictures.) - it has 5 legs. The piece is in very good original & vintage condition. There are, of course, some marks & signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, on the top, leaves, legs and general structure (see photos), but nothing that affects its beauty or functionality. ~ The two sliding mechanisms under the table used to open or "drop" the leaves work perfectly and effortlessly. ~ The table bears its original mark, "Samcom" (see photos.) ~ Incredibly well made, the piece is stable and solid. Overall dimensions: h: 40cm X max w edge to edge (fully open): 170cm max w for each wing (fully open): 122cm min w per wing (leaves dropping down): 92cm w of each leaf: 30cm d of each leaf: 30cm actual d of the wooden top, from the junction: 62.5cm virtual d (table fully open): 101cm.
