Elegant French chest of drawers from the Louis-Philippe period, made in the mid-19th century from sumptuous walnut burl with deep and spectacular grain. This authentic piece opens with four drawers, including a remarkable secret drawer discreetly integrated into the upper belt, a refined detail characteristic of high-quality furniture from this era. The front features a superb veneer work in walnut burl, enhanced by delicately rounded corners and a sober yet majestic silhouette typical of the Louis-Philippe style. The drawers are constructed with dovetail joints and retain their elegant finely chased brass lock entries. A single key allows for the opening and locking of the drawers. The piece rests on turned feet and is topped with a magnificent black Sainte-Anne marble top, enriched with naturally embedded prehistoric fossils in the stone, bringing an exceptional mineral presence to the whole. Made in the Loire Valley, this chest of drawers comes from a château where it once adorned the master’s bedroom. Passed down from generation to generation with the utmost care, it has undergone no restoration: only a respectful cleaning of its original patina. Its remarkable state of preservation attests to the attention it has received over time. Today ready for use, this chest of drawers will enhance both a classic interior and a contemporary decor in search of authenticity and character.
