Portable typewriter the smith premier chum, manufactured in the united states of america in the 1930s. A machine with a very nice classic form, sold in a set with a suitcase. Item in good condition. The disadvantages are mainly the condition of the suitcase, which shows signs of use. There is also a problem with the roller shifting mechanism, it jams, requires inspection. The history of the smith premier begins in 1890, when alexander brown designed the fully keyboard upstrike typewriter smith premier, which was built by l.c. Smith & brothers arms factory in syracuse, new york. The second model appeared in 1895, without richly decorated sides. Starting with the sp3 in 1901, the machine had 84 keys (sp1 and 2 were 76) and was available with different carriage widths on the 4, 5 and 6 models. In 1908, smith premier released the sp10, the only fully keyboard typewriter ever built. Sp10 was the last of smith's "real" prime ministers. After the collapse of the company, the brand was bought by the remington typewriter company, which for many years continued to market office and portable machines under the name of smith premier. Dimensions: in the suitcase: height 12 cm|width 30 cm|depth 32 cm. Without a suitcase: height 10 cm|width 25 cm|depth 29 cm. Dimensions in inches: in the suitcase: height 4.7 in|width 11.8 in|depth 12.6 in. Without a suitcase: height 3.9 in|width 9.8 in|depth 11.4 in.
