Japanese lacquered chest of drawers

Small japanese chest of drawers (tansu) lacquered with four drawers. Beautiful original fittings. The façade is in keyaki (zelkova) covered with a red lacquer. This precious wood was mainly used to decorate the facades of the "tansu" (dressers). The structure of the dressers was traditionally made from lighter woods, such as cedar or cypress. Very good condition. End of the meiji period (early twentieth century).
