Splendid walnut armoire in the style of gauthier-poisignon, herald of art nouveau. "in the style" means that it does not bear the designer's mark but that it is linked to his work by its style and quality. In fact, it comes from a private mansion built in 1926 in nancy by gibert & ogé for the composer louis thirion. It was entirely furnished at the time with majorelle, gauthier poinsignon etc., therefore exceptional furniture. The strictly original patina is very luminous. It is enhanced by a large central beveled mirror and superb handles - gilded keyholes. The latter describe like flowing tears and end in a cavity that allows them to be grasped delicately. The two original keys are present - the one on the right side operates a double-bolt lock, a sign of quality furniture of the period. Inside, 5 shelves in original solid walnut veneer, all molded on the visible edge to preserve the aesthetics. The left side opens into double doors with a two-point brass lock embedded in the right door. Inside, 5 very large shelves, identical to the smaller ones on the side, all original, all mounted on racks and fully adjustable. Once again, we are struck by the purity of the design, yet combined with an obvious desire for very fine ornamentation. We find the famous roses with 4 petals as well as the alternation with the shoots on the pediment of the cabinet. Although this one is large, it is lightened by its proportions, its patina and its mirror. Fully disassemblable thanks to 10 lag screws. Note the pretty front legs, with their external molding, as well as the wood stitching. The walnut sides are paneled as well as the back.
