Ceramic ashtray with a very contemporary shape, midnight blue pulling towards purple. It is signed arts-ceram - grand feu, which is the manufacture of michel pointu, son of léon pointu. He took over his father's pottery and developed a range of utilitarian tableware from 1947 to 1948. After the failure of this venture, in 1951, he then settled with his wife denise pointu-detraz (former student of the school of fine arts of bourges) in a former pottery in bouillons in arquian which then took the name "art-ceram grand feu"; adventure that will last until the beginning of 1963. Denise develops the design of the usual sandstone shapes and also makes rare personal pieces: vases, cups, but especially sculptures in modeled sandstone. It can be noted that this part has undergone a previous repair (very slight crack visible on zoomed photo).
