Orion counterweight pendant lamp in mid-century modern German space style, made of Staff Leuchten glass, 1960s.

Vintage design. An impressive Space Age pendant light from the German manufacturer Staff. The central element of the lamp is a flat opal glass cylinder with an impressive diameter of 50 cm. The edge of the glass body is concavely curved inwards. A large opening in the glass is covered by a diffusing grid on the underside. The lamp is suspended from a sophisticated height adjustment system. A key feature is the striking sphere that acts as a counterweight to the heavy body of the lamp. The sphere and the lamp are perfectly balanced, allowing the light to be effortlessly moved along the pulley cable. The black spiral cable adjusts in height. All the metal parts of the lamp are finished in brass. The heavy ceiling fixture houses the pulley system and the power cord. The height of the lamp is adjustable between 92 and 123 cm. The lamp is in very good condition with signs of use and patina. There is a crack in the glass, but it does not affect its functionality. It has been rewired by a professional craftsman.
