French gilt original cocktail coffee table with its glass by rene drouet. Beautiful forged iron curved gilt legs on red metal surface. Original glass top silver leaf plated surface and gold leaf plated exotic birds and flowers. There is a supported wooden frame in between the base and the glass, the wooden frame is indistinctly signed. Creator: rene drouet. Place of origin: france. Date of manufacture: c. 1940’s. Period: 1940-1949. Materials & techniques: gilt, metal, forged iron, wood. Condition: good original condition. Wear: wear consistent with age and use. Minor scratches, fading or discoloration on the metal frame. The silver leaf on the glass is worn out on certain parts of the under-surface, one or two small chips.the corners has previously been taped and the glue is visible (which will be restored).
