Description
Pair of 18th century convertible armchairs, revisited from the Louis XVI period. The medallion-shaped barrels have been given a makeover. Each beech wood barrel has been stripped to rejuvenate the style and harmonize with more contemporary interior decoration. Deliberately, there remain traces of the old paint in order to obtain a balance of style between the natural color of the raw wood and the old tapestry remaining in its juice. The period handmade petit point tapestry with pink floral decoration & bow has been cleaned, however traces of use are still there. One is predominantly red and the other is predominantly blue. The background of the pattern on tapestry is beige tending to green. A few areas of wear and two stains are noted on the tapestry in certain places (see photographic montages). Each chair is perfectly stable. Original horsehair padding and springs, seats barely used and therefore firm. This charming pair of convertibles with a new look will fit very well into a contemporary interior decoration.
