She is small, but she has all the qualities of a grand piece: -) In the 1970s, the peacock chair reigned supreme over bohemian interiors and sunny terraces. Large, sculptural, sunny — it was the symbol of a generation that wanted to live differently, more freely, closer to nature. And then someone, a mischievous and poetic craftsman, had the idea to miniaturise it. To retain all the majesty of the form — the fan-shaped backrest, the openwork loops, the spiral braid of the seat — while turning it into a fully-fledged decorative object. This miniature peacock chair made of rattan and woven wicker is a condensed showcase of artisanal know-how. Each strand has been woven, tied, and wrapped by hand. The interlaced ring patterns that border the rounded backrest testify to a precise and patient technique, typical of the Asian artisanal production that was massively exported to Europe during the great Bohemian-Retro wave of the 70s. The touches of black-stained rattan that highlight the contours add an unexpected graphic sophistication. Placed on a piece of furniture, it now holds a plant pot with a natural and obvious grace — as if it had always been made for that.
