Three rare green majolica plates dating from the 19th century, probably from the 1880s. Made by the French pottery Salins, founded in 1857 in Salins-les-Bains in Lorraine, near the Swiss border. They feature vine leaves and grape clusters, and have an elegant woven basket pattern around the entire edge. The back of the plates is marked "Salins" and with the letter M. In addition to these stamps, the plates also bear the three classic saggar marks. Each plate measures 19.7 cm in diameter and 2 cm in height. In excellent condition: two plates have a slight chip on the edge (see photos).
