Available in several colors and formats, Fernand Elchinger's starfish bowls are magnificent examples of fifties ceramics. Two-tone, worked in thickness, we appreciate their organic shapes and their surprising enamels. This charming trinket tray is a small size, enameled in deep red on the inside, metallic black on the outside. Very decorative, this midcentury bowl has not aged a bit. Excellent vintage condition! The piece bears an intaglio handwritten signature on the reverse. Diameter: 17 cm. Height: 5.5 cm. “elchinger ceramics” is a family business established in Soufflenheim in Alsace since 1834. Since that time, generations have succeeded one another and offered a production that is as varied as it is avant-garde. Léon Elchinger (1871-1942) left his mark with his artistic stoneware productions as well as magnificent art nouveau and then art deco pottery, with magnificent colors and luster. Less known than Chambost, Ruelland, Jouve and Capron, Fernand Elchinger (1911-1975) will be one of the great ceramists of the mid-20th century.
