Aluminium jamaica stools, by pepe cortes for amat, 1993. Identification engraving under the seat. Dimensions: 50 X 50 X 81 cm. Tabouret with 5-foot chrome steel structure. Polished and anodized silver ag3 aluminium swivel seat. The jamaica stool is already a classic of spanish design and one of the best designed stools in history. It has been on the market for more than 25 years and remains as current as it was on its first day. By the way: Pepe cortés, born in barcelona in 1946, studied design at the eina school where he then was a teacher. In the early 1970s, he partnered with professionals from different fields and founded the grupo abierto de disefio (open design group). During this decade, he designed the oriol and cubic jewellery, the werner record store and the poliglas offices. He now collaborates with design companies around the world, including bd (barcelona design).
