Toy manufacturer: Compagnie industrielle du jouet (CIJ) is a miniature toy manufacturer created in 1920 by Fernand Mignault (rue de la Roquette in Paris). Faced with the success of CIJ and the need to expand, Fernand Mignault, a good salesman and manager, joined forces with his cousin Marcel Gourget, an excellent technician, who ran a boilermaking workshop on Route d'Ousson in Briare, and thus founded Etablissements Mignault SA in 1927. Under the agreements signed with André Citroën in 1922, the company exclusively manufactured 1/10 scale sheet metal and wooden toys, including the 5 CV Trèfle and the B14 Citroën. These miniatures were distributed by Citroën dealerships. However, CIJ was forbidden from citing the brand in its advertisements. The agreement and manufacture of Citroën miniatures ceased in 1934 following the bankruptcy of this company and when the Michelin family took control of Citroën. A more flexible agreement was later made with Louis Renault and many models of Renault miniature vehicles, in lithographed sheet metal and Zamak at scales ranging from 1/10th to 1/43rd, were manufactured. However, the CIJ now had to sell its production itself. This agreement was denounced when the Renault Dauphine was released because the CIJ model was released too late and also had quality problems (the first version of the Dauphine was in lithographed sheet metal, the second with glazing).
