This Louis Philippe-style sideboard embodies all the refinement of 19th-century French cabinetmaking. Its elegant simplicity is enhanced by remarkable veneer work: the burr walnut leaves were meticulously selected for their shimmering grain and artfully assembled, creating an almost painterly facade. Each door reflects a mirrored harmony, giving the whole a soothing balance. The top is made of solid walnut. The cabinet opens with four doors—two central and two lateral—providing access to three compartments, each with a shelf. Three dovetailed drawers complete the ensemble: a large central drawer and two small side drawers. Each compartment has its own key. The facade is punctuated by four understated, slightly protruding pilasters, with discreetly molded capitals and bases, which emphasize the verticality and symmetry of the piece. The locks, with "wire" entries, are made of original brass. The piece of furniture has simply been cleaned to preserve its beautiful patina and authenticity. It rests on a continuous plinth, typical of so-called "parquet" furniture, designed to be admired from all angles. The back is made of oak, a guarantee of quality and solidity. This sideboard comes from an elegant residence in the Loire Valley. Made in a workshop in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine in Paris—a mecca of cabinetmaking in the 19th century—it once adorned the dining room of a local notable. An exceptional piece of furniture, as practical as it is decorative, which will enhance a classic or chic interior.
