Victorian partner's desk in burr walnut with leather.

We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent partner's desk with two pedestals in burr walnut, dating from around 1880. The top is made of hand-dyed brown leather. These desks with curved cushion drawers are rare on the market and are inspired by pieces from the early Regency style, emblematic of refined English furniture. The original leather is oval, which is very rare, adding a unique touch to the desk. The polished brass handles, Georgian circa 1800, are older than the desk itself. This piece has been lightly restored with a deep clean, finishing wax, and hand polishing. Normal signs of wear and age-related patina are present. Dimensions: height 77 cm, width 126 cm, depth 65 cm. Leg space: height 64.5 cm, width 56 cm. All measurements are taken at the widest point. The period leather naturally shows creases and signs of wear. It is advisable to apply an annual wax to preserve moisture and to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent the hand-dyed leather from drying out or discolouring.
