Infraphil lamp by Charlotte Perriand for Philips, 1954

The Infraphil lamp is an iconic piece of functional design from the 20th century. It was selected by Charlotte Perriand for the exhibition "Useful Forms, objects of our time" at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Made of plastic, metal, and glass, it originally emitted infrared radiation thanks to a filament that could reach around 2600°C. It was then used as a medical device for its heating properties. This lamp retains its original bulb. The metal structure, in a cream shade, has been carefully restored and repainted in its original colour "sand white". The overall condition is excellent, with no missing parts. A specimen is preserved in the collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, design department. The lamp is in working order. The electrification needs to be updated to meet contemporary standards, ideally with a current non-heating bulb for decorative use. Dimensions: Height: 23.5 cm. Width: 19 cm.
