French engraving XVIII coloured – Paris 1782

Rare French engraving from 1782, depicting the decoration of the fireworks erected near the City Hall of Paris on the occasion of the birth of the Dauphin, son of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. Beautiful architectural composition animated by numerous characters, finely engraved and enhanced with colours. The work is presented in an old Bordeaux frame bearing the label of G. Debenais, General Frame Factory, Bordeaux. Dimensions: Sheet: 47.5 × 33.5 cm. Plate: 46 × 32.5 cm. Frame: 64.5 × 49 cm. Old condition with foxing, signs of age, and visible wear on the sheet. The frame also shows chips and small losses, visible in the photographs. A very beautiful decorative and historical piece, ideal for a classic, eclectic interior or a collection of old prints.
