Antique trifold vanity mirror with gilt metal frame and floral crest. A charming antique three-panel vanity mirror featuring an ornate floral crest, finely decorated gilt-metal borders and a rich, deep burgundy-red finish to the outer panels. Possibly French and dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, this distinctive piece has a beautiful aged appearance and plenty of decorative character. The mirror has three hinged panels that fold neatly together for storage. The central mirror tilts, while the two side panels open and close independently. It can be displayed standing on its small original feet or hung using the attached metal chain, making it a versatile decorative object for a dressing table, bedroom, dressing room or vintage-inspired interior. The gilt-metal frame has developed a lovely aged patina over time. The reverse panels have a textured, burgundy-red finish, while the central backing shows substantial deterioration. Its exact backing material has not been identified. Condition. This mirror is sold in its original, aged condition, with significant wear consistent with its age. The central mirror is particularly distressed, with extensive deterioration and loss of its reflective silvering, possibly caused by past exposure to moisture. The two side mirrors are in somewhat better condition but also show age-related wear, marks and imperfections. The frame and decorative details display wear and patina to the gilt finish. These imperfections are clearly visible in the photographs and are an important part of the item's present condition. The mirror remains an attractive decorative object for those who appreciate authentic antique pieces and the character of age. It is not suitable for anyone seeking a mirror with clear, flawless reflections. Please accept my apologies for the quality of some of the photographs. Photographing mirrors is particularly challenging because of reflections and changing light conditions. I have included several views.
