Restoration Empire period canapé bench in carved mahogany.
Empire Restoration period canapé (circa 1820-1830) in mahogany and mahogany veneer, remarkable for the finesse of its neoclassical-inspired carvings. The piece is adorned with armrests sculpted in the shape of stylised dolphins with delicately chiselled scale patterns and uprights decorated with palmettes. Upholstered in a jacquard fabric covering the backrest, sides, and removable cushion, this display piece will bring a touch of historical and theatrical elegance to a living room or large library. Condition: Very good overall condition for a piece of this era, with a solid and perfectly stable structure. The wood retains a beautiful warm patina, marked by slight normal signs of use and discreet superficial micro-scratches consistent with its age (visible in the photos). The upholstery and fabric are clean and in good condition, reflecting the care given to this piece over time.
