This lovely porridge spoon is made of sterling silver and bone. This beautiful work was created by the poussielgue rusand maurice goldsmith house at the end of the 19th century. This baby place setting features a ribbon decoration. It is engraved with jean's first name. These baptism gifts are a traditional gift: in the past, in wealthy families, the godmother offered a silver object to the child (hence the expression "to be born with a silver spoon in the mouth"). These rare objects of goldsmithing constituted a safe haven, passed on to the protégé. This present could be accompanied by a timpani, an egg cup or a napkin ring. The child will keep this present all his life and use it every day. This cutlery is in filled silver, hallmarked with the "tête de minerva" and the maker's mark "mpr". In good general condition, it measures around 16 cm. I report traces of oxidation and wear (scratches and deformation).
