A refined stoneware bowl from Saxbo, Denmark. Model 237, executed in a beautifully muted glaze with subtle tonal variations ranging from deep blue-grey to smoky charcoal shades. Designed by Eva Stæhr Nielsen in the 1950s. The interior features a delicate decoration of concentric rings at the base, creating a discreet graphic detail beneath the softly marbled glaze. The surface exhibits the characteristic depth and understated elegance that have made Saxbo one of the most respected Danish ceramic studios of the 20th century. Marked on the underside: "237 Saxbo DENMARK 9" and "E. St. N." This example is a second quality, indicated by two small line marks on the underside. The glaze and overall appearance remain very decorative and perfectly functional, with only minor irregularities related to production, in line with the practices of the Saxbo studio. Saxbo ceramics are known for their understated aesthetic, mastery of glaze chemistry, and their close connection to the ideals of The Modern Scandinavian - where craftsmanship and simplicity meet quiet sophistication. This fine bowl complements many interior styles. A vintage, classic, Scandinavian, modern, or Art Deco interior decoration.
