Pair of "Plia" chairs by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli

With its 5cm thickness when folded, the plia chair has become an icon of Italian design. The chair folds easily thanks to the ingenious three-ball joint. The back and seat of the "plia cane" version are made of wood and Vienna straw canework, the structure is made of chrome-plated steel. This cane version is a fairly rare model, which is part of the moma's permanent exhibition. The chrome of the structure has been deoxidized but traces of oxidation and chrome breaks are present (visible in the photos). Furthermore, the canework of the seat is a little distended.
