Restored Arne Jacobsen Egg armchair and ottoman for Fritz Hansen, 1960s

An absolute design icon, arne jacobsen's egg chair with footrest produced in 1966. Reupholstered in european nappa leather using period techniques. This means hand sewing the leather piping all around the chair and ottoman. The high quality leather will take on a beautiful patina over time. Created in 1958 with other classics for the sas hotel in copenhagen. Arne jacobsen designed the building, the furniture, the lighting and even the cutlery. It is its unique shape that allows the egg chair to guarantee privacy (initially planned for the lobby of the sas hotel). Its curved shape was quite unusual for the time. Jacobsen wanted to ensure that the hotel's interior contrasted completely with its modernist exterior.
