Pewter mug with bf francois brassac stamp - the french potter - mid 20th century

This pewter mug was made with passion and know-how by one of the last pewter workshops in france. This magnificent pewter tankard has a straight body which gives it a discreet and elegant look thanks to the horizontal line details found at the top of the tankard. Its curved handle completes this modern and chic style. Tin alloy guaranteed lead-free and graded at a minimum of 95% pure tin. Under the base we find a hallmark from the master potter françois brassac representing three fleurs-de-lys, surrounding the small rectangular cartouche with the initials "bf" for brassac françois le all topped with a crown. François brassac, master pewter potter, comes from a family of pewter potters, with certified know-how, for 6 generations. His creations were made in the middle of the 20th century. History of the brassac family: first established in auvergne, the family's first pewter potters manufactured pewter tableware on demand. François brassac learned the trade alongside his father, théo, and his two brothers, pierre and jean, until 1952, when he decided to create his own company. It was only 5 years later that his company was founded in bourg de toll. A few years later, his expertise was recognized by everyone. He became a master tin potter and created his own punches.
