Mask Punu Okuyi Gabon

Authentic African mask punu okuyi of gabon. Size: 30 x 21 cm. Provenance: private collection, France. Dating: c. 1950 - 1960. Provided with a certificate written by an independent expert. This beautiful classicist punu mask is topped with an imposing headdress finely carved on top. The eyes are split coffee beans. Here, also a rare element, lack of frontal diamond scarification as is classically found on masks of this type. Traditional masks of punu and more generally of gabon were more affected than others by the effects of climatic conditions and xylophageal attacks. Very nice white patina made of kaolin. Very old patina having suffered the effects of time.
