19th century Louis XVI style console table in black and gold with white marble shelf

Period: ca. 2nd half 19th century. This beautiful console table would be a nice addition to many types of interior design styles and is a convenient size. It is in the neoclassical louis XVI style and dates from the napoleon III period. The narrow rectangular table rests on four fluted legs surmounted by a beaded frieze. The front and side aprons are decorated with neoclassical motifs carved in relief depicting a floral basket and swirls. The lower edges have a carved frieze. The raised decorations are beautifully gilded and stand out against the black background that has greenish undertones. A white marble tablet with light gray veins forms the top. The inside of the frame has an old inventory label probably also from the 19th century. Status: good. The glass is perfect. The crest of the ribbon has been restored. This article has been repainted.
