Maison Lecan presents this set of ten hand-woven solid elm chairs, France circa 1965 A superb set of ten solid elm chairs, representative of French rustic modernist furniture from the 1960s. Their solid and perfectly proportioned structure highlights the dense and luminous grain of the elm, a now rare wood, with its deep and warm honey tones. The backrests are hand-woven from wide ribbons of natural rope forming an elegant checkerboard pattern, while the seats feature a tight Danish weave in a cross pattern. This craftsmanship, both understated and graphic, exemplifies the spirit of French architect-designed furniture of this period, in the tradition of Pierre Gautier-Delaye or Charlotte Perriand. The square-section construction, the slightly curved uprights, and the lower crossbars ensure stability and comfort, while maintaining a clean and contemporary look. Each chair has retained its beautiful original patina, enhancing the warmth of the wood and the texture of the rope. A rare and harmonious set, perfect around a large solid wood table or in an interior that blends natural materials and clean lines. Dimensions: H90 x W46 x D45 cm Seat height: 45 cm Ref.
