Magnificent design, understated and very elegant. Excellent condition. Some traces, marks of time, nothing significant. Fast and very careful shipping. Angelo Gaetano Sciolari (1927 – 1994) An exceptional businessman, Sciolari was born in Italy in 1927. After graduating from the faculty of architecture, the young man returned to his first passion, cinema, particularly film directing. However, after the death of his father in 1949, Sciolari had no choice but to take over the family lighting production business. In just a few years, the designer transformed the company and propelled it onto the international stage. Sciolari is not only a brilliant entrepreneur, but also a creative, prolific, and talented designer. He worked for major design names such as Stilnovo in Italy in the 1950s, Boulanger, and Stilkronen. Throughout his career, he designed magnificent and incredible lighting fixtures such as the “Mod A5011” pendant (circa 1950), the “4079” floor lamp (1965), and of course the Cubic chandelier (1970s). His creations are shaped in both shiny and matte metal, multi-light, evoking futuristic visions of the emerging space age. In the 1970s and 80s, his creations were in high demand. The Sciolari brand became the top-selling Italian lighting brand in the United States (products imported by America by Lightolier & Progress Lighting). During this same period, his creations prominently appeared in popular television and cinema due to their luxurious and futuristic appearance (Sciolari's creations were even spotted in the famous series Dallas!). He then left cinema to focus on architecture.
