Erik Merthen armchair

Eric Merthen armchair. This magnificent Cadet lounge armchair in rosewood and black leather, designed by Eric Merthen for Ire Möbel AB, was made in Sweden in the 1960s. The back cushion is held in place by leather straps with brass buckles. The wooden frame and leather straps are in near perfect condition. The cushions have been uniformly repainted black and therefore have no patina. They are also in near perfect condition. The small leather buttons show some signs of wear due to age. The fabric on the back of the seat cushion has been removed as it was worn, but it is not really necessary (see photos).
