Mirror baroque style in carved walnut – late 19th

Date: late 19th century. This large ornamental mirror in the shape of a cartridge is simply beautiful. The carved walnut frame bears slight traces of previous gilding that give it a beautiful glow. The large ridge has a louis XIV style shell and acanthus leaves. The rest of the frame also features pretty carved leaf patterns, scrolls, and louis xv-style flowers. This mix of styles places the mirror in the late 19th century when historical eclecticism was in fashion. The mirror is in perfect condition and is not beveled; it is therefore probably a later replacement. Condition: very good. No damage. It is unlikely to be the original glass. Traces of original gilding.
