Old Magazine Holder / Storage Chest with Velvet Seat

Date: ca. End of the 19th century – beginning of the 20th century. This charming little piece of furniture is hard to name because it is truly one of a kind. This could have been either a magazine holder or storage for knitting material. It is covered with a padded seat covered with red velvet which is probably original; this was finished with decorative bedbugs of brass color. The two inclined sides of the case are made of plane wood veneer with a rich golden hue. The small sides, with handles, as well as the feet are made of a dark oak. The front of the room is adorned with two beautiful birds sitting on hand-painted flowering branches. State: Very well. No damage. Marks of use on the feet, some scratches and signs of wear corresponding to age. The velvet is overall in good condition with some minor imperfections. See the photos for more details.
